The Lost Sheep

What man of you, having an hundred sheep, if he lose one of them, doth not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he find it?

And when he hath found it, he layeth it on his shoulders, rejoicing.

And when he cometh home, he calleth together his friends and neighbours, saying unto them, Rejoice with me; for I have found my sheep which was lost.

I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance.  -Luke 15:4-

In the last article we read about lost coin, but lost sheep is different from lost coin. Sheep has life, it knows it’s Shepherd , it knows it’s herd.

Sheep can be compared to a person who got saved, led a spiritual life for some period of time and then went away from the God. We would have experience of salvation , Jesus Christ died on cross for my sins, and I  am redeemd by His precious blood. But when God delays to answer our prayers, trial , tribulations we face makes us to go away from presence of God. Sometimes we make wrong decisions in our education, career, job, and in family life, makes us to go away from God.

Sheep follows it’s Shepherd by:

Sight:  as sheep follow by looking at Shepherd we must look at Jesus Christ only. when we don’t read the Bible, don’t go to church regularly, don’t pray regularly, we will go away from God.

Voice :  as sheep hears its voice and follow him we need to follow Jesus Christ .we may be physically present in church, but our mind may be thinking something else, we may be mentally absent. When God speaks to us through sermons, servant of God, or by prophecy, we may think  that is not for me, simply ignore it. By these ways go astray from God.

Walk : or running, as sheep follow its shepered. We must follow the foot step of Jesus Christ. Thy word is lamp unto my feet and light unto my path(PS 119). Mediation of word of God help us to follow Jesus. Many times when we are sick, when trial comes , we will get weary , we get discouraged and doubt God,  give up going to church.

Our situation may be same like the sheep lost its sight, deaf to voice of God, lost our path. But As the Shepherd comes in search of the lost sheep, and when he finds it, he layeth the sheep on his shoulders, Jesus Christ our Shepherd comes in search of us.  His love of Calvary saved us, brought us to His presence. Even though many times we forget His love, forget precious salvation we have received, Our beloved Shepherd Jesus Christ never forgets us. He finds us, takes us upon His shoulders, like a father until we reach His home.

Unique thing in this parable is, after the shepered finds the sheep, He never allows it to walk among the hered, He Himself carries on His shoulders. This can be compared to we the believers, having fellowship with servants of God, holding on to the promises  that God have given us, God will enable us to reach His home.
Jesus Christ:  ” I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.”   (John 10:11)

Great faith !

“when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth? ” -Luke 18:8

Jesus Christ said above verses when He was telling the parable of unjust judge and widow. That unjust judge heard and avenged to the widow, similarly God will answer all our prayers, He may delay but but will surely answer our request.

One thing we learn here is, when the Lord is near, God expects we must have faith in Him. Because since we are in a world of full of sin , in this sinful world to live a Holy life, Righteous life, forgiving and loving our adversaries is difficult, even though we try to make it with our own ability is only a small thing in the sight of God. Hence God expects aleast we must grow in faith life day to day, we may be Holy for a day but next day we may commit sin, but in  aspect of   faith we must grow from faith to faith.  Our holiness is nothing compared to God’s Holiness, our righteousness is nothing compared to God’s righteousness. Hence only by faith we believe , we will be caught up in His coming.  Let us pray to God and receive His Grace to be seen with.

“But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life. – Jude 1:20-21

Be a good soldier !

Blessed be the LORD my strength, which

(2 Timothy 2:1 to 10)

“1   Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.

2   And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.

3   Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.

4   No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.

5   And if a man also strive for masteries, yet is he not crowned, except he strive lawfully.

6   The husbandman that laboureth must be first partaker of the fruits.

7   Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things.

8   Remember that Jesus Christ of the seed of David was raised from the dead according to my gospel:

9   Wherein I suffer trouble, as an evil doer, even unto bonds; but the word of God is not bound.

10   Therefore I endure all things for the elect’s sakes, that they may also obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory. “

Moral: God has called and chosen us for His eternal purpose to be fulfilled in our life. In this spiritual journey, we must pray and fight in prayers to obtain the eternal life. We must not always seek others for prayer help. God wants to teach us so that we alone need to fight in prayer to grow in spiritual life. we know the victory is ours, because our Jesus Christ Have already defeated the Satan on cross. God also expects that we must pray for the salvation of unsaved persons, let god give us grace to pray.

“Blessed be the LORD my strength, which teacheth my hands to war, and my fingers to fight:” (Ps 144:1)

Eternal Kingdom awaited!

2Timothy 1:12 “For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.”
Apostle Paul said the above verses. He was sure that Lord Jesus Christ who called him, is able to preserve him until the day of redemption . God who have called us is able to preserve us until his coming (rapture). We need only to believe in Him. It is difficult to live a christian life but it is not difficult to believe in Jesus Christ. If a Christian says there is no trials or sufferings in their life, it only shows that they are far away from Jesus. Jesus will test our faith when are close to Him. If we suffer with Jesus , we shall also reign in His kingdom. The suffering Christian Life along with Jesus Christ makes life easy and beautiful. In suffering Christian life if we forget Jesus , then we will feel the suffering.  Let God give us His everlasting Grace to endure this suffering and reign with Him in Eternity.

The strongest promise

Isa 49:15 “Can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? yea, they may forget, yet will I not forget thee.”

Our beloved ones may forget us but our creater  God never forgets us. God have graven our names on His palms which cannot be erased. We in His mighty hands no one can pluck us away from Him. The greatest love on this world is the love of mother on her child.God reminds us even though mother may forget her child but He never forget us.  It is we who forget the God many times. In times of trials we seek humanely help rather seeking God. Let God give us grace to trust only on Him.

The Answer to our question is

John 19:30-” When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.”

In most of times when God delays to answer our prayer we say ”why God has not done ?” That to me. Our request may be good job, house, good health, business, education, many things. There can be two reasons why God delays to answer 1. That is not God’s will  2. God is testing our faith on Him. But one thing is true most of time what we ask God belongs to this world, all are temporal things. We often forget eternity and worry about present temporary things. In the above verses Jesus Christ said “it is finished” shows that He have finished everything, He shed till His last drop of blood on cross for our sake. He have finished everything not only for our temporary life but for Eternal Life. “First seek the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, then rest shall be added unto you” . Let us not say God have not done that or this, instead pray fervently and praise Him always so that we can receive His blessing.

True forgiveness

“And Esau ran to meet him, and embraced him, and fell on his neck, and kissed him: and they wept.”-  Gen 33:4

Jacob cheated Esau and took his birthright. He ran away to his uncle’s place. After 20 years he was returning to home (Canaan) with his family, cattle and wealth. Even after 20 years he was afraid that his bro. Esau will smite him. Hence previous night he wrestled with God got blessing by new name “Israel”. After meeting god receiving His mercy he met his brother.

The above verses shows the emotional reaction of Esau towards Jacob. Gen 33:4″ And Esau ran to meet him, and embraced him, and fell on his neck, and kissed him: and they wept. “One thing we can learn is Esau completely forgive his brother Jacob.

Even many years before we got saved, our works, talks, attitude would have hurt our own brother’s, sister, family,  friends etc. After we got saved ,God would have forgiven our mistakes, but when we get an opportunity to meet them we need to ask forgiveness. That is what God expects from us.  As Esau embraced Jacob, our Lord Jesus will embrace us when we meet him. Let God give us Grace and mercy…
