Refrain your lips to become wise !

” In the multitude of words there wanteth not sin: but he that refraineth his lips is wise.”- Proverbs 10:19

The most easy way we commit sin is by taking unwanted things. We can close our eyes and avoid seeing filthy things. We can close our ears and avoid hearing unwanted gossip, conversation and short comings of others. But to talk less or to have completely control on our mouth is very very difficult. When we speak much we will  speak some words which do not please God, leading to sin. Hence in James chapter 3 we read

” For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body.

Behold, we put bits in the horses’ mouths, that they may obey us; and we turn about their whole body.

Behold also the ships, which though they be so great, and are driven of fierce winds, yet are they turned about with a very small helm, whithersoever the governor listeth.

Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth!

And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell.

For every kind of beasts, and of birds, and of serpents, and of things in the sea, is tamed, and hath been tamed of mankind:

But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.- James 3:2-8

In the above verses we read about tongue, how difficult to control it .

But there are good things we can do by our tongue,

1.we can praise the Lord always

2.we can pray and interceded for others

3.we can proclaim gospel to the unsaved people

4. By power of holy spirit, we can speak in unknown tongues , privileged to communicate with God in heavenly language.

Let God give us Grace to control our tongue, use our tongue wisely, make use of our tongue to win souls, proclaim gospel, and praise God always.

“I will bless the LORD at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth.” -Psa 34:1
